Sdr. Omme Prison
Sdr. Omme Prison has faced a major expansion with the construction of a new closed prison accommodating 200 inmates. During the construction of the new closed prison, the main focus has been on the working environment for staff and the opportunities for education, employment, and leisure activities for the inmates. This focus is supported by architectural solutions with high standards for material selection, security, maintenance, and longevity, which together create robust and well-functioning frameworks for both staff and inmates.
At Teamtronic, we have supplied all indoor and outdoor lighting for Sdr. Omme Prison. The supply includes over 25 different types of luminaires and is part of a construction project of approximately 20,000 m², covering cell blocks, administration building, common house, sports hall, employment building, as well as various secondary buildings and outdoor areas.
Among the lighting solutions used is our sought-after T-Hee, which functions as continuous basic lighting in cell sections, common areas, staff zones, and the sports hall. The luminaire series contributes an efficient and pleasant basic light and simultaneously supports a visual red thread throughout the project. The luminaire can be adapted in both surface-mounted and recessed versions, as well as in different sizes, providing flexibility in expression without compromising the overall visual appearance or the lighting comfort in the rooms.
A specially designed table and desk lamp, the SOF Moon, has also been developed for the cells, serving as an independent element within the lighting concept. The SOF Moon was developed in close collaboration with Sonia Bom from Alex Poulsen Arkitekter A/S. The development process started with original sketches, which Teamtronic's technical department then further developed and transformed into a functional lighting solution. The result is a fixture where design and technology go hand in hand, and where the visual expression is preserved without compromising on function, robustness, safety, and lighting comfort, with built-in user-operable setting options.
Our Z-line On linear profile series is used as linear basic lighting in workshops and teaching kitchens. The luminaires are mounted directly on the ceiling and follow the slope of the roof, which emphasises the building's architecture. In the courtyards, solutions from the Z-line series have also been used, where the profile size, special colour and mounting mean they almost blend in with the safety fence itself - in a discreet and integrated expression.
In the prison's chapel, more atmospheric lighting design has been implemented, with Arche F1 used as spotlights for the general illumination. The fixtures are discreetly mounted between the ceiling slats, creating a calm and balanced lighting effect in the space. As a supplement, C1 Long has been used in a more sculptural installation, where the fixtures are grouped in a smaller zone at varying heights, adding a special and almost artistic lighting effect to the room.
Common to all lighting solutions in the project is the work with variations in form, colour and expression – always with a focus on function and light comfort. At the same time, all luminaires are made with robust constructions and safety features, including closed luminaires and visibly placed screws in safety-approved versions, which ensures that the lighting meets the strict requirements of a high-security prison environment.
