THE LIGHT THAT MAKES THE BOTTOM LINE SHINE
At the production company Haarslev Industries, power consumption has been reduced by almost 40 % by switching to LED lighting. On the bottom line, this means an annual saving in power consumption of more than 400,000 kWh - and with rising electricity prices, the replacement will pay for itself before the end of the year. The energy optimisation was carried out in collaboration with lighting supplier Teamtronic, which is currently experiencing high demand for energy-optimised lighting.

The current energy crisis is causing not only Danish consumers but also businesses to change their behaviour and look towards energy optimisation. One of the places where there is a lot of money to be made for industry is in optimising for LED lighting. Not only does it benefit the bottom line and the environment, but it also ensures a better working environment for employees.
Out of the economic twilight
At Haarslev Industries, more than 1000 luminaires with fluorescent tubes across 20 industrial halls have been replaced with LED. The switch to LED lighting has reduced power consumption by almost 40 % from more than 1 million kWh to just over 640,000 kWh annually. Teamtronic's energy calculation for Haarslev Industries was made in 2021 before the rising energy prices: "At Haarslev Industries, our energy calculations showed that the annual lighting costs were reduced by DKK 600,000 and with the rising electricity prices, this means that the replacement will pay for itself before the end of the year," says Karsten Nellemose, lighting consultant at Teamtronic, and elaborates:
"The same picture emerges for a wide range of companies that can achieve great
operational savings and benefits of switching to LED lighting. For example, it means
the properties of light also improve safety, working environment and productivity
significantly with employees."
Experts in customised lighting
Teamtronic manufactures and supplies LED lighting throughout the country to builders, architects and electrical installers for both indoor and outdoor lighting for hospitals, schools, offices, industry and retail stores, etc. "The breadth of the company means that Teamtronic can help ensure the best lighting in a multitude of industries where we use our many years of knowledge about light," says Karsten Nellemose.
New LED luminaires are not only noticeable on electricity bills. The new LED luminaires also provide significantly better light, and LED technology requires far fewer watts. "We produce and import LED luminaires ourselves. This means that customers can get exactly the solution they want. There are several measures that can further optimise the energy efficiency of the lighting, such as a special type of control or sensors that can turn the light on or off when there is no activity or at desired times," says Karsten Nellemose.

Latest technology and knowledge put to the test
Teamtronic has its own lighting laboratory with spectrometer, goniometer and EMC lab where all luminaires are tested and quality assured. The lighting lab also makes it possible to closely follow developments in LED lighting so that customers are offered the latest technology on the market.
"In our lighting lab we can test our products. Among other things, we measure power consumption and the quantity and quality of the light emitted. In this way, we ensure that the luminaires comply with all applicable rules and requirements on the Danish market," says Karsten Nellemose and elaborates: "The technological development in the field also means that a lighting solution with LED that is only 5-10 years old can already provide energy savings because, in short, newer LED luminaires can emit more light with less power consumption. This can have a significant impact on the operating costs of businesses that have lights on for many hours."
