It is with great pleasure and excitement that we can announce that we will shed light on the entire Mary Elizabeths Hospital and help create the best possible environment for future patients and staff.
Construction of Mary Elizabeth Hospital is in full swing - a new hospital that cares for sick children, adolescents, pregnant women and their families. A project where a unique and playful setting will help patients and families to have a daily life alongside their treatment, creating a respite in a vulnerable situation. A hospital with people at the centre!
Design
In the run-up to the opening in 2026, we are working hard to create a unique user experience for staff, patients and their families.
Mary Elizabeth Hospital is designed according to five fundamental design principles that guide the patient experience.

The five design principles have been developed in close collaboration with patients, families, managers and employees:

Especially in the design principle "See me, ask me, let me", our lighting solutions play a special and central role. For example, when designing patient rooms. Here, patients and families can choose how the lighting, temperature or ventilation in the ward should be.
Size and scope:
- 60,000 m2 new hospital for children, adolescents and pregnant women.
- 143 beds for children and adolescents.
- 33 beds for adults.
- 15 operating theatres.
- 34 recovery rooms.
- 14 delivery rooms.
- 30 outpatient rooms for adults.
- 36 day hospital beds for children and adolescents.
- 14 seats for blood sampling.
- 57 outpatient rooms for children and adolescents.
- 1 general and nuclear diagnostic unit.
- 1 unit for training and rehabilitation.
