For many of us, cancer has been close to our lives, which makes this support especially meaningful. It is a common cause that requires our joint efforts.

Although we have come a long way in the fight against cancer, it is still the leading cause of death in Denmark. For example, did you know that every hour, five people in Denmark are diagnosed with cancer? Or that 4 out of 10 cancer cases are preventable? The funds from Knæk Cancer help fund projects in early detection, improved treatment, patient support and the link between lifestyle and cancer. This year, the Danish Cancer Society has identified these six key areas that have the potential to receive support from this year's fundraiser:

- Biological, psychosocial, clinical and epidemiological cancer research
- Dealing with late effects and mental distress
- Better cancer detection and treatment
- Support for older cancer patients
