LIGHTING SUPPORTS WELL-BEING AND LEARNING
Lighting is important to support an optimal learning environment. The right choice of lighting has a big impact on student wellbeing, concentration and social interaction. Classrooms are dynamic spaces with many different functions - from teaching situations, task solving and social interaction between students and teachers.
Light as an active teaching aid
Studies show that lighting helps create the best conditions for a good and stimulating learning environment that increases students' ability and engagement to participate in learning.
Light is complex, and modern classroom lighting solutions can be customised according to several parameters: Basically, there must be enough light present and evenly distributed in a room, and of course, the light must not dazzle or be uncomfortable for the eyes. With the colour temperature of light, it's possible to create spaces where the lighting can be adapted to the activities in a classroom. For example, warm light promotes calm activities and contemplation, while cold light can promote concentration and efficiency in a classroom.
Natural and customised lighting down to the smallest detail
The sun's natural light has a proven effect on people's production of hormones that affect general wellbeing, mood, productivity and sleep. Technological developments in lighting make it possible to use sensors to regulate lighting according to natural daylight, for example if there is natural light coming in through windows. With daylight control, the light emitted by the luminaire is regulated according to natural daylight. Daylight control has a positive impact on the well-being of teachers and students in schools and institutions and reduces energy consumption.
The optimal lighting solution in a classroom is carefully customised based on current recommendations and standards to ensure a well-lit environment. The lighting is positioned and customised based on thorough calculations and reports that take into account the room's different surfaces and objects that the light reflects off of. In this way, the lighting solution supports an optimal learning environment.
